The power of doing: How activity-based learning will shape young minds

Children do not truly understand the world by listening alone. They understand it by doing, by touching, building, breaking, and fixing. Each time a child explores with their hands, their brain forms new connections. Learning becomes alive when it involves action, not just hearing or reading. Activity-based learning invites children to discover knowledge through experience rather than memorizing facts. When a child builds a paper bridge, mixes colours, or creates a small volcano, they do more than learn science or art. They learn to think, predict, and reflect. Every act of curiosity strengthens the brain, sharpens attention, and fuels imagination. What the hands do, the mind remembers.
At Nanhe Scientist, this belief shapes everything we create. I design workshops that make science tangible and exciting for children. From building simple circuits to experimenting with air, water, and plants, children explore instead of being instructed. When something does not work, they try again, ask questions, and search for their own answers. In that moment of figuring it out and understanding why, scientific thinking takes shape. Activity-based learning engages children deeply and builds patience, teamwork, and resilience. When they work together to make a light glow, they share ideas, respect different perspectives, and keep experimenting until they succeed. These experiences nurture the curious thinkers and problem solvers of tomorrow.
This same philosophy will soon be at the heart of The Navriti School, India’s first Precision School. Navriti will redefine learning by understanding how each child’s brain develops and functions. Through neuroscience, psychometrics, and physical cognitive assessments, the school will create personalised learning paths that adapt to each learner’s style, whether they grasp best through movement, visual patterns, storytelling, or tactile exploration. Nanhe Scientist and Scilens Xperience Lab will serve as Navriti’s scientific and technical partners, bringing research-based, experience-driven learning to every classroom. Scilens will design immersive STEM experiments and installations that simplify complex ideas, while Nanhe Scientist will craft creative activity kits and guided explorations that blend play with discovery. Each experience will be mapped to a child’s cognitive and emotional blueprint, ensuring that learning feels both meaningful and deeply personal.
When Navriti opens its doors, children will explore in environments that spark curiosity, such as the Brain Plasticity Lab, the Imaginarium, and the Innovation Hub. They will not sit quietly memorising lessons but will engage in dynamic spaces where exploration thrives. One child may test how air pressure lifts an object, while another studies how light bends through glass. Teachers will mentor rather than instruct, guiding curiosity and helping learners connect science with everyday life. In these spaces, curiosity will replace fear, and mistakes will mark progress. Children will grow confident, adaptable, and self-aware. In a world where artificial intelligence retrieves information faster than any human, imagination, empathy, and critical thinking will help young minds stand apart. Activity-based learning will plant and nurture these qualities from the very beginning.
At The Navriti School, children will live science instead of just studying it. They will explore how the world works and, more importantly, how their own minds work. Parents who want their children to experience education that celebrates curiosity, creativity, and the joy of discovery will find Navriti a place where learning turns into an adventure and every question opens a new possibility.
